Much has been said of the dangers of the sun’s UV rays – to avoid being exposed to them for long periods of time and to avoid tanning at all…if possible. Sounds pretty simple right? But summer is right around the corner and that means Sunday Fundays at the beach and the long awaited’ swimming lessons for the kids.

The sun is inevitable, especially when we’re beginning to plan our summer vacations. The best and safest thing we can do is learn the right way to be exposed to the sun.

The main thing is to learn to use sunscreen everyday – even on cloudy days and in the office. Just like body lotion, we should consider it as part of our daily routine.

Apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before going out in the sun and try to reapply it every two hours. For women this is usually a problem because we can ruin our makeup. It is important to have two different sunscreens, one for your face and another one for your body.

Dermatologists from the SAIN medical panel recommend Heliocare Gel, original or tinted. This brand also has a compact tinted presentation which can be used as makeup to help keep your makeup intact at all times.

Another important tip is to buy a lip balm with sunscreen. Do this and drinking enough water daily to help prevent dry or chapped lips.

These are just a few tips to help cope with the sun’s UV rays. Our graphic mentions other recommendations that will let us enjoy the summer more peacefully and worry free. Enjoy!
